Description
POLYSORB™ Suture, Size 4/0, 18", Undyed, P-12, is a braided synthetic absorbable suture made from Lactomer™ glycolide/lactide copolymer. This copolymer is a synthetic polyester derived from glycolic and lactic acids, designed to offer high initial tensile strength and efficient absorption through hydrolytic degradation.
The suture is coated with a proprietary blend of caprolactone/glycolide copolymer and calcium stearoyl lactylate. This coating significantly enhances handling by reducing friction and improving knot tie-down, allowing for secure and reliable knot placement during tissue approximation or ligation.
POLYSORB™ sutures maintain approximately 80–90% of their original tensile strength at one week and 30–40% at two weeks. Complete absorption occurs between 56 to 70 days post-implantation. This absorption timeline makes the suture suitable for tissues that heal rapidly and do not require extended mechanical support.
